Changes

As you may have noticed, I haven't blogged in a while...like a long while! Well, I think it is time to change what this blog is into something that will hopefully help others. Let me explain...

In May, my mom and I decided to join Weight Watchers. I had recently attended the med school graduation of a dear friend and was shocked when I saw the pictures. The girl in that photo someone I didn't know! I was heavier than I'd ever been and looked awful! I knew it was time for a change. So on May 11, 2013 I walked in to my first ever Weight Watchers meeting. On my first weigh in, I tipped the scales at a shocking (for me) 205 pounds. I couldn't believe it! The first number in my weight had NEVER been a two before.
I sat through the first meeting feeling depressed that I had to go through all of this at 26 and that I wasn't naturally thin. The first week was hard! I mourned the loss of real Dr. Pepper, McDonald's breakfast, and all things fried. But when I walked in to my next meeting, I was already down 3.6 pounds. Seeing the numbers on the scales was so motivating, so I kept it up. Eight months later, I am down over 45 pounds from my first weigh and wearing a size I haven't worn since early college!
I am certainly not saying it has been easy. I have had to be diligent and have had to learn all new habits as far as food and drinks go. It has TOTALLY been worth it, though. I have decided to make this into a weight loss blog all about the meals I make, snacks I eat, and tips and tricks for being successful with Weight Watchers. This program WORKS!

So, after that introduction I thought I'd post our menu for the week. Here is what my new hubby and I are eating this week, complete with links to recipes if they were something I had found on the internet.

Sunday: Buffalo Chicken Enchiladas with Uncle Ben's Cajun Style Ready Rice and chips & salsa
Monday: Pork Chops with homemade BBQ (ketchup and brown sugar...so easy) with baked potatoes and Green Giant Frozen Green Beans with Almonds
Tuesday: Crock Pot Mexican Chicken with brown rice and cheddar bay biscuits (I just make the Bisquick mix kind)
Wednesday: left overs
Thursday: Pepperoni, Banana Pepper, and Garlic Pizza (better known as PBG around here!) with salad
Friday: Meat Lovers Pizza with salad (we have homemade pizza sauce to use up!)
Saturday: Weigh In Day and treat night! Taking my brother and his girlfriend to our favorite restaurant...Merrick Inn! Yum :)
